SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE THERAPY

sports-massage-750x350-1.jpg

The techniques of Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage are very similar. Both have the same goal in mind: to restore the length and quality of the muscles. When this happens, the body should be in a state of equilibrium as long as the skeleton is in the correct posture.

What is Deep Soft Tissue Massage ?

A deep tissue massage, as the name implies, involves a therapist applying hard pressure to the body's deeper tissues, including the muscles. There are a variety of reasons why someone might want or need this form of massage therapy, including relief of muscular tension, stress reduction, knot breaking, toxins removal, and increased blood flow to the skin.

Whats a Sports Massage ?

A sports massage, on the other hand, is primarily focused on larger and older knots that have developed over time as a result of excessive training volume, injuries, muscular imbalance, or poor biomechanics. Sports massage's goal is to help with injury recovery, injury prevention, or performance by boosting power production and restoring range of motion.

Is Sports Massage only for athletes ?

Not in the least. For a huge number of patients who do not engage in regular activity, sports massage may be an appropriate form of massage therapy. Patients who sit at a desk for lengthy periods of time or who work on low work surfaces, for example, will benefit from the slightly more specialised tissue selection in a sports massage treatment method.

Deep vs Sports

Many people confuse these two massages, but depending on your lifestyle, one may be more beneficial than the other.

Unlike deep tissue massage, sports massage concentrates on the parts of the body that are most prone to injury or stress, as well as older and larger areas of tension. Runners, for example, may benefit from more leg work, while baseball pitchers may benefit from more arm practise.

Deep tissue massage is a full-body treatment that helps to relieve new areas of pain in your muscles and tissues.

Both massages, however, employ deep pressure, which can be uncomfortable.

Will treatment be painful ?

When giving a sports or deep tissue massage, a particular degree of pressure is often required to get the intended result. As a result, it's not uncommon to feel a little uncomfortable during treatment, especially if you're dealing with a lot of stress in one spot. But this is where our therapists' expertise and outstanding communication come into play.
